The history of Touch Foundation for Change traces back to 2008, when Founder Carolyn White interned at the Caddo Juvenile Detention Facility. Witnessing children repeatedly entering and leaving the system without being truly transformed, Carolyn pledged to become a voice for the voiceless. She aimed to ensure that the behaviors of children did not overshadow the underlying ailments driving their destructive or criminal actions. As someone who personally struggled with acceptance and occasionally engaged in deviant behavior during her youth, she understood that many children are not inherently bad or irredeemable—they simply need someone to listen, encourage them, and help them see and achieve their full potential.
After observing the increasing rates at which youth and young adults were being institutionalized, Carolyn recognized the urgent need for change. This realization became the foundation of Touch Foundation for Change, driven by her dedication to providing support, understanding, and opportunities for transformation to those who need it most.
Touch Foundation for Change takes a 7 Step Holistic Approach to address social, economic, familial, and societal harms impacting youth and young adults.
By adopting a holistic approach that addresses social, economic, familial, and societal harms impacting youth and young adults, we can create a more supportive and inclusive environment where all individuals have the opportunity to thrive. Together, let us work towards building a brighter future for the next generation.
